PROFILE＊

Like a cat sniffs to make a decision, I would use my hands and listen to my heart. Hoping that will someday bring me a small force that can be close to any life.



I am Shihoko Nukamori - I was born in Aichi, currently reside in Miyagi, Japan where I focus on not limited to washi-paper related works but open to any nature related materials.

At the age of fifteen, moved to London alone and worked at several stores until somehow managed to complete my fine-art degree at the Slade School of Fine Arts in 2003.

My 2 years of time in Iwate, after coming back to Japan from urban London, had a spectacular impact of natural world like trees, snow, light and dark, animals, insects, flowers and various types of sounds.

I learned lamp-shade making techniques during my career in trade-related shipping industry in Tokyo.

Now, I've come to ask the realm of nature about things that come to my mind.

ぬかもりしほこ

宮城県仙台市在住。愛知県で生まれ育ち15歳で単身渡英、雑貨屋さんや古着屋さんなどで勤務しながらSlade School of Fine Artsで美術を学んだ後帰国。岩手県の大自然に2年間浸かった後、上京し船会社に勤務しながら灯り作りと和紙と出会いました。

現在は、あらゆることを自然界に尋ねるようになりました。猫がくんくんと決断をしていくように手足と心を動かしております。いつか命に寄り添える小さな力になれるような暮らしを夢みて。
